150 Famous Welsh Americans

Manylion a Disgrifiad y Llyfr | Book Details & Description

  • Author: W. Arvon Roberts
  • Format: A5
  • Publication Date: December 2007

This volume of biographies stands alone in its field, being the only one ever published on the Welsh emigrates in America.

An U.S. Senator once made a proud claim that no other nation had contributed more to the development of the United States, in proportion to their numbers, than the Welsh had done.

Who were some of these Welsh pioneers?

  • Betsy Ross, the maker of the first US flag
  • Samuel Milton Jones, factory reformer
  • George Bundy; cataloguist of Welsh books
  • Thomas Morris; died, over 121 years old
  • Lewis Evans; mapped northern states in 1749.

Presidents, Hollywood actors, millionaires, frontiersmen and dozens of other professions are captured in this treasure trove for history buffs and laymen alike - and an invaluable reference work for historians, students and researchers. Here is a comprehensive prospective on the men and women who left their native Wales for the New World and their eras that they helped to define.

W. Arvon Roberts has selected these 150 famous Welsh Americans from a collection of over 1,200 biographical notes on distinguished Welsh Americans collected by him, now indexed and deposited at the National Museum of Wales, Aberystwyth.
