Edgar Parry is a historian and lives in Caernarfon. His original Welsh-language version of this book was published in 2003.

He writes of monks and pilgrims, architecture and liturgy, and how they all had an effect – sometimes a destructive one – on the churches’ internal and external fabric. The author tells us, too, where we can still see beautiful screens, misericords and carvings.
